Concrete plant De Brabandere has been making ready-mixed concrete for four generations now. Concrete consists of three crucial ingredients: sand, aggregates and binders (cement). 


Because resources are scarce and dredging zones for offshore wind farms make it even more difficult to collect sea sand, the entrepreneur went on a quest for more sustainable alternatives. He got off to a good start with impetus from SMESmall and medium-sized enterprises growth subsidies. Now the knowledge required to replace sea sand with recycled concrete rubble no longer needs to come from abroad.
