The first horizontal call supporting the EU’s Clean Industrial Deal has just opened, with a budget of 540 million euros. Organised under the Horizon Europe 2026–2027 work programme, the call has two topics:
- Decarbonisation of energy-intensive industries
- Clean technologies for climate action
1. Decarbonisation of energy-intensive industries
The topic targets low-carbon solutions which:
- use innovative technologies to decarbonise industrial processes
- come up with new or improved decarbonisation solutions in Europe
- are market-ready
The solutions must relate to one or more of the following three areas:
- managing the carbon cycle
- the use of clean energy in production
- reducing resource use in production processes, notably through circularityCircularity describes the quantity of materials managed in a closed loop. and optimisation
2. Clean technologies for climate action
This topic focuses on innovative clean tech solutions which:
- significantly increase the circular material use rate,
- significantly reduce the levelised cost of energy (LCOE) delivered to end-users
- contribute to Europe’s industrial leadership and competitiveness
- are close to market readiness
The solutions must relate to one or more of the following three areas:
- integrated net-zero emissions energy systems
- enhanced zero-emission power technologies
- storage technologies, renewable fuels, and carbon capture and utilisation enabling climate neutrality
Applicants are free to choose the specific value chain they wish to strengthen in these three areas.
Apply before 15 September 2026.
More information about the two topics is available on the Funding & Tenders Portal.
