A Federal Call for Projects Dedicated to Ecodesign
Building on the success of previous editions, the FPS Public Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment is launching the Circular by Design 2026 call for projects. This initiative aims to support innovative, practice-based projects led by companies, with the potential to inspire other actors and be replicated beyond the project itself.
The call is aligned with European priorities on ecodesignEcodesign allows a product design to be adapted in view of its repair or a full or partial repurposing of its components at the end of its useful life. and circularityCircularity describes the quantity of materials managed in a closed loop.:
- reducing dependence on critical raw materials
- making products more durable and repairable
- developing circular business models
Sectors and Duration
The call for projects targets the following sectors:
- construction
- textiles
- packaging
- electrical and electronic equipment (EEE)
A maximum of 85 % of the project’s eligible costs will be funded by the FPS Public Health, with the remainder of the costs to be borne by the project leader and/or the consortium.
In total, the FPS Public Health has set aside a budget of around €600,000 to support between 4 and 8 projects between the end of 2026 and the end of 2028.
Indicative Timeline
- 17 July 2026: official launch of the call and publication of all information
- 24 July 2026: online information session (recorded and available throughout the application period)
- 7 September 2026, 9 AM: closing of the submission of candidatures
- September 2026: evaluation of the candidatures by a selected jury
- Autumn 2026: announcement of selected projects
