The FPS Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment launches an interactive guide that provides insights into the potential of Product-as-a-Service, an alternative and sustainable business model.

Thanks to this guide, developed in the framework of the Federal Action Plan for Circular Economy, you can now discover what the opportunities of this model could mean for your company in six steps.

PaaS is based on the principles of the circular economyThe circular economy is a restorative and regenerative economy. By maintaining the value of the products, materials and resources in the economy through smart product design, repurposing and/or shared use of products, it reduces the extraction of natural resources by using resources already present in the economy.. Producers pay more attention to quality in order to maintain their products and components in the economic chain for as long as possible (longevity) and use fewer (spare) raw materials through redesign, reuseReuse designates all operations by which substances, materials or products that are not waste are used again in an identical way to their originally intended purpose., recovery, etc.

This offers many advantages:

• regular and predictable revenue streams;
• additional revenue when you add new services (repairRepair is making a faulty product work again, allowing its use to be extended without the user parting with it, or with a view to reuse (donation, second-hand sale).s, maintenance, upgrades) to your product;
