The winners of the first edition of the Boost4Circularity call for interest have been selected. Seven Walloon circular industrial projects will receive tailored strategic support to accelerate their development.
Boost4Circularity: Wallonia Accelerates the Transformation of Its Industrial Sectors
Projects Selected for Their Capacity to Transform Industries
This first selection marks a turning point: the shift from strategy to concrete industrial momentum. The call for projects identified the most structuring initiatives within the priority sectors, based on a rigorous assessment of their impact and maturity. Particular attention was paid to projects capable of:
- structuring a value chain
- generating a ripple effect within their sector
- contributing to the industrial transformation of Wallonia
Seven projects were selected as genuine industrial locomotives, across three areas:
- recyclingAny recovery operation through which waste, including organic waste, is reprocessed to become substances, materials or products that can be used for their initial function or other functions. and material valorisation
- structuring circular chains in construction
- developing circular industries in metals and critical materials
The Seven Winning Projects
Construction sector
- Recycle Glass (AGC Glass Europe): structuring a Walloon industrial closed-loop recycling chain for flat glass from building deconstruction and renovation.
- Hardwood Wallonia (Massif Ardennes): developing a circular, low-carbon timber chain around the valorisation of local beech wood, producing glued laminated beams (GLT) and architectural curtain walls using an industrial finger-jointing machine unique in Belgium.
- Natural stone reuseReuse designates all operations by which substances, materials or products that are not waste are used again in an identical way to their originally intended purpose. (Tradecowall): building an operational natural stone reuse chain through a network of recycling centres and quarries to collect, characterise and return to market stones from construction sites.
Metals and critical materials sector
- CUPIDON (Comet Traitements): innovative industrial platform in La Louvière dedicated to the production of recycled copper from waste streams.
- UPLOADS (Comet Sambre): production of high-quality recycled steel through smart sensors, material characterisation tools, automated sorting technologies and artificial intelligence solutions.
Multi-sector projects
- FibReCim (Tradecowall): first complete industrial chain for the collection, sorting, certification and recycling of non-asbestos fibre cement waste from installation and demolition sites.
- Reprocover 4.0 & 5.0 (Reprocover): valorisation of composite waste into products for infrastructure, with transition to the industrial phase.
Strategic Support, Not Additional Funding
Boost4CircularityCircularity describes the quantity of materials managed in a closed loop. does not consist of additional funding, but of tailored strategic and operational support: individualised, multidisciplinary project management for the selected initiatives. By combining a clear sectoral vision with targeted project support, Wallonia strengthens the impact of its action and creates the conditions for a circular industrial development that is more competitive and more resilient.
A second edition of the call will be launched in autumn 2026.
