SME No Waste Republic wins Trends Impact Award 2025 for circular economy
The Trends Impact Awards recognise Belgian companies that make the world more sustainable, fair and healthy. During the edition 2025, No Waste Republic, an SME that valorises surplus bread for the food industry, took home the award in the circular economy category.

The fourth edition of the Trends Impact Awards took place on 13 November 2025 at Tour & Taxis, Brussels. This year, 51 companies were nominated across five categories:

circular economy
health & well-being
biodiversity
equality & inclusion
global impact
In addition, 18 speakers shared their expertise in various inspiring sessions.
Laureates in the circular economy category
The prize was awarded by Minister of the Middle Class, Self-employed and SMESmall and medium-sized enterprisess Eléonore Simonet, with the support of the Federal Public Service Economy and as part of the BelgiumBuildsBackCircular
awareness project.
All nominated SMEs in the circular economy category are worth a closer look. From recyclable nappies to circular sportswear, the laureates demonstrate there are no limits to what circular thinking can achieve. Still, there can only be one winner.
SME No Waste Republic transforms surplus bread into breadcrumbs, a sustainable raw material for the food industry. In doing so, they reduce environmental impact (as bread crumbs are currently often imported from Asia), stimulate local job creation and valorise residual streams. A wonderful winner in the circular economy category for SMEs!
Large companies excelling in circularityCircularity describes the quantity of materials managed in a closed loop. were also spotlighted. Doors and windows manufacturer Hydro Building Systems Belgium won the circularity award for large enterprises. With their SAPA system, Hydro markets windows and doors consisting of recycled aluminium that is sourced from old buildings.
