The NBN (the national bureau for standards) is organising a launch event to introduce the new technical standards committee on circular economy. This isset up by the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN), one of the three organisations that develop and publish standards at European level.

This CEN/TC 473 'Circular Economy' standards committee is of great importance for two reasons:

  1. To adopt existing international standards (ISO) as European standards;
  2. To develop new European standards directly related to European regulations and policies. These new standards will be specific to the European market.

The kick-off event takes place in English and consists of five parts:

  • Part I: Standardisation - What and how?
  • Part II: Standardisation and circular economy
  • Part III: Circular Economy action plan: EU and Belgium (Claire Lefevre, FPS Economy)
  • Part IV: How standards (will) help organisations (Jan Daem, Barco)
  • Part V: Networking drink
